Cumulative Process of Sun & Earth
Centre, stability, peace. It is in innate human desire to constantly move towards these pillars whether conscious or not. We often go about this by coming to terms with binaries of all sorts, fishing through opposites and what resides in between. Open/closed, all/nothing. This all culminates in constant motion as we discover what works for us, building unique cycles and finding this centre- in whatever constant circle it may embody.

From Where the Olive Trees Plant Their Roots
The art of henna can be traced back to Ancient Egypt in the form of hair dye and its elaborate form of body art. This practice seeped into all parts of West Asia and North Africa, becoming an art form indulged in before a celebration. It embodies trust, safety, joy, and protection.
Although an ancient practice, henna art in SWANA has been lost in the last century due to colonization. Women and femme GNC individuals of Millennial and Gen Z groups have reclaimed this dying art amongst these cultures in order to revive it.
With a lack of representation of this specific group and the overwhelming amount of representation being within a negative connotation, I aimed to highlight SWAN joy through the innocent act of sharing time in creating art.
